We are constantly told Judaism and Zionism are not connected. This idea was initially circulated by fringe groups of ultra-orthodox Jews. We were going to avoid religious arguments on this site, as many of our supporters are not religious. However, the emergence of extremist anti-Zionist groups like Neturei Karta has forced the need to dispel many of the lies that are being spread about the Jewish faith.

Do Orthodox Jews support Israel?

The overwhelming majority of orthodox Jews support the existence of Israel, less than 5% are opposed to its existence. Amongst orthodox Jews, opposition to Israel is an extremely fringe position. Is it true that the Torah forbids a Jewish State?

It is misleading to say the Torah forbids a Jewish State. Neither Ezekiel 37 nor Isaiah 11, the two most frequently brought verses, say that the Torah forbids a Jewish State. Before Zionism did orthodox rabbis forbid living in Israel?

All of the classic codifiers of Jewish law; the Halachot Gedalot, the Rif, the Rosh, the Tur, the Shulchan Aruch, the Rambam, the Mishnah Berurah etc. made no mention of a law preventing the Jewish people from establishing a state.
